Technology and media
CVI invests in companies in the technology and media sector – with a particular focus on e-commerce, fintech, service and content providers, and telecoms infrastructure operators and related sectors. The companies in which we invest are typically in a phase of dynamic growth that requires additional capital, although they do not necessarily yet generate sufficient profits – we take the specific nature of such business models into account in our analysis and the structure of the financing.
The Central European region boasts a large pool of engineering talent, a mature ecosystem of IT companies and a growing number of firms scaling their operations internationally. The digitalisation of the economy is driving demand across the entire sector: from e-commerce and fintech, through software and IT services, to telecoms infrastructure and data centres, the importance of which is growing alongside the development of artificial intelligence. Subscription and service-based models provide many companies in the sector with a high degree of revenue predictability. At the same time, technology companies in a phase of dynamic growth often do not yet show any profits nor do they possess the tangible assets that banks often expect – which makes flexible debt financing a natural complement to equity capital, allowing them to grow without diluting shareholders’ stakes.
CVI financing can be used for capital expenditure, working capital, mergers
and acquisitions, debt refinancing, recapitalisation or the buy-out of shareholders – as well as any combination of these purposes. The typical value of a single transaction ranges from EUR 3 million to 30 million.
