Tomasz Lubowiecki, founder of 7R, on the role of external capital in the company’s growth
Capital alone does not create value. But at the right moment, it can give a proven business model the room it needs to scale.
That is one of the key takeaways from the story of 7R, featured in the latest article from XYZ’s “Kapitał na Przełom” series, partnered by CVI.
As 7R expanded its project pipeline, capabilities and growth ambitions, access to capital became a key constraint. The company began working with CVI in 2014, and in the years that followed, private debt helped accelerate its growth without requiring an early dilution of ownership.
The story also highlights an important point: using debt to scale a business requires more than ambition. It requires a proven model, a clear understanding of risk and a well-defined purpose for the capital.
“Many people look at external capital mainly through the lens of cost. I look at it through the lens of the opportunities it creates” says Tomasz Lubowiecki, founder of 7R.
“When we look at a project from the owner’s perspective, we can engage with greater conviction and help scale the business, rather than simply finance it” says Piotr Gocłowski, Partner at CVI.
Over the course of less than a decade, CVI and 7R completed more than a dozen transactions together. Today, 7R is one of the leading players in Poland’s warehouse and logistics real estate market and continues to expand internationally.
