Rafał Lis at the 12th Fund Forum
Rafał Lis, Managing Partner at CVI, participated in the debate “What Instead of Deposits? Ideas for Returns Without High Risk,” held during the 12th edition of the Fund Forum in Warsaw.
The starting point for the discussion was the increasing share of bank deposits in Poles’ portfolios. Experts considered where savings might go if deposits were to disappear from the market.
Rafał Lis highlighted that investors have realized that not only deposits but also short-term debt funds do not always guarantee capital protection. In 2021-2022, due to sharp interest rate hikes, these funds incurred losses. According to Rafał Lis, the time has come to introduce conscious risk into investors’ portfolios, for instance, through private debt funds. He emphasized that excessive focus on safety in choosing investment instruments, especially during periods of high inflation, has led to losses and a real erosion of savings.
