CVI keeps promoting private debt throughout the CEE region
As the leader in CEE Private Debt, CVI is a regular participant and contributor to regional investment conferences. Members of our team spoke at numerous panels, sharing our views on the current trends and future of the industry that we pioneered in the region. Below is our activity in regional CEE conferences and discussions in Q4 2020:
Mergermarket CEE M&A and Private Equity Event in Warsaw, October 1st 2020
The event was split into the following areas - private equity fundraising and structures, M&A origination and integration, acquisition financing, deal sourcing through to execution and value creation. Pawel Jacel, principal at CVI, participated in the panel “Evolution of debt financing” alongside Przemek Glebocki from Mezzanine Management, Jacek Chwedoruk from Rothschild & Co and Lukasz Pobudejski from BNP Paribas. The panel discussed how the massive shift from bank loans to private debt came about and why investors remain optimistic about direct lending’s growth.
SEE Private Equity and M&A Conference, October 30th 2020
The SEE PE and M&A conference was held on 29-30 October and hosted a variety of moderated live talks on investor sentiment and scale of opportunity in the SEE region post-COVID-19. Topics covered were the PE exit landscape, mid-market outlook, importance of ESG and the tech sector vs PEs and VCs. Emmanuel Daull, investment director and head of SEE region at CVI, participated in the panel “Private Debt, Mezzanine & Distressed Investing” alongside Chris Buckle from Mezzanine Management.
CEETA Corporate Bond Congress, November 20th 2020
The 6th edition of the Corporate Bond Congress In Warsaw brought together the community of professionals and institutions involved with corporate bonds, one of the most popular financial instruments today. The idea behind the event is creating opportunities to meet, exchange experiences and gain practical knowledge from experts active in the corporate bond issue and trading market. Rafał Lis, CVI founder and managing partner, participated in the panel “Can private debt be the answer to firms’ financing needs in the current environment?” Topics covered were trends in private debt in Poland and Europe, private debt from the investor and issuer perspective as well as opportunities for growth in post-pandemic times.
Restructuring Workshop by Kochanski & Partners, December 1st 2020
The Polish Bank Association, Kochański & Partners law firm and CVI organized a webinar devoted to alternative forms of corporate financing, including new restructuring solutions available to debtors from COVID-19 related government initiatives. What does the process of obtaining mezzanine financing look like? How to navigate the simplified restructuring procedure in Poland? These are some of the questions Marcin Leja, managing director at CVI, discussed with other panelists.
Slovak Venture Capital & Private Equity Association: “How was 2020 for Slovakia?”, December 10th 2020
SLOVCA, the national member of Invest Europe, organized one of its regular discussions towards the end of a pandemic-influenced year. Three board members of SLOVCA participated – Radoslav Tausinger, managing director at CVI, participated in the panel “Private Equity and Venture Capital: how was 2020 for Slovakia?”. He was joined by Martin Chocholacek of Enterprise Investors and Boris Kostik of Wood & Company. The speakers shared views on how the pandemic affected deal sourcing, deal making, fundraising and valuations as well as discussed the outlook for 2021.
